Héritier d’une longue tradition du culte funéraire, le rite spécifique des théologies décadaires adressé aux dieux défunts est la consécration de nourriture (wȝḥ jḫ.t) associée à un encensement (snṯr) et une libation (qbḥw). La locution verbale sfsf ȝw(.t) qui fait l’objet de cette étude voit le jour plus tardivement et restera plus circonscrite. Elle a depuis longtemps été mise en relation avec le culte funéraire, en particulier dans le cadre des rites décadaires thébains qui fleurissent à partir de la fin XXe dynastie-début XXIe dynastie et se développent aux époques ptolémaïque et romaine. Fondée sur un corpus d’attestations, une synthèse est proposée afin de mieux appréhender les particularités de cet acte cultuel et son déploiement chez les particuliers et dans les temples divins. Au sein des actes de libation (qbḥw), l’action sfsf ȝw(.t) consiste à purifier les offrandes (solides) en pratiquant une lustration, c’est-à-dire en les aspergeant d’eau lustrale.
Inheriting a long tradition of veneration of the dead, the specific rite of the decadal theologies addressed to the deceased ancient Egyptian gods is the consecration of food (wȝḥ jḫ.t) in conjunction with incens (snṯr) and libation (qbḥw). The verbal locution sfsf ȝw(.t), which is the subject of this study, only emerged later and will remain more limited. It has long been associated with mortuary cult, particularly in the context of Theban decade rites, which flourished from the end of the 20th Dynasty to the beginning of the 21st Dynasty and developed further in the Ptolemaic and Roman periods.
On the basis of a corpus of evidence, La lustration des offrandes sfsf ȝw(.t) allows a better understanding of the specificities of this ritual act and its use by individuals and in divine temples. In the context of the pouring water acts (qbḥw), the act sfsf ȝw(.t) consists of purifying the (solid) offerings by lustration, i.e. sprinkling them with pure water.
